Source Code - Movie Review

Story Line

Captain Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) wakes with a jolt to find himself on a commuter train heading into Chicago. Although the other passengers all seem to know him, he has absolutely no idea where, or even who, he is. The last thing Colter remembers is flying a helicopter mission in Iraq, but here he is in someone else's life going through someone else's morning commute. Before he can do anything, an express train zooms by on the opposite track and a bomb explodes, seemingly killing Colter and all the other passengers.

Colter awakes in an isolation chamber, strapped to a seat, and wearing his military flight suit. He still has no idea what's happening, except that he's being spoken to by mission controller Carol Goodwin (Vera Farmiga), who calmly asks him, 'Who planted the bomb?' He learns he's a part of a secret operation called 'Beleaguered Castle,' but before he can progress any further, Goodwin starts up the machinery and suddenly Colter is back on the train, at exactly the same time he first appeared there, once again speeding through Chicago with the same group of commuters and once again after eight minutes the bomb explodes. Each time he doesn't solve the mystery, he is taken back to re-live the same eight minutes. Living the explosion over and over, Colter must uncover the identity of the bomber, while also figuring out what the alternative universe of 'Beleaguered Castle' is.

Impression

If you didn't like Next you won't really like this.  It was a fast paced movie with the exception of a feel sorry for me scene in the middle.

Conclusion

It was OK but defininately not worth seeing more than once and even then make sure you see it on cheap night.

Hoodwinked Too: Hood vs. Evil - Movie Review

Story Line

Red Riding Hood is training in the group of Sister Hoods, when she and the Wolf are called to examine the sudden mysterious disappearance of Hansel and Gretel

Impression

The animation as upto the usual standard, the cast was brilliant. The 3d was depth percention more than anything, not a real stand out. The cinema was filled with laughter 

Conclusion

Worth seeing lots of adult inuendo to keep parents as well as children amused.  You could save some money and see it in 2D without loosing any of the experience.

Fast 5 - Movie Review

Story Line

Dominic and his crew find themselves on the wrong side of the law once again as they try to switch lanes between a ruthless drug lord and a relentless federal agent.

Impression

This was a great last movie to the franchise.

If you just want a fast action no thinking movie this is perfect.  Lot of fast cars and great stunts and plently of eye candy no matter what side of the fence your on.

The action is non-stop from start to finish.

Conclusion

If you want a no thinking required movie to fill in a couple of hours this is perfect.

World Invasion: Battle LA

Story Line

A Marine Staff Sergeant who has just had his retirement approved goes back into the line of duty in order to assist a 2nd Lieutenant and his platoon as they fight to reclaim the city of Los Angeles from alien invaders.

Impression

This movie contains no character development all of the characters are tared with the usual American Miltiary stereotyping. Good action movies develop their characters there is none of that here.

Add to that you defeat the enemy by blowing up the one magical thing which can hurt them and conveniently isn’t guarded scenarios.

The worst part is they left it open for a sequal.

Conclusion

If your're going for the flash bang, kill the aliens we're so great movie then it'll be a hit.

Rango - Return of the John Wayne era

Story Line

Rango is an ordinary chameleon who accidentally winds up in the town of Dirt, a lawless outpost in the Wild West in desperate need of a new sheriff.

Impression

If you've seen a wild west movie with John Wayne you've see this movie.  Stranger comes into town... inadvertantly becomes the a Hero... finds out who the dirty wrotten scoundrels are... saves the town

The animation is really good but I was looking at my watch by the time it was over.

Conclusion

Great for the kids
